I am interested to apply for the post of a Senior Communication Officer. As a highly experienced journalist, I have invested over 14 years working with various media platforms including print, broadcast, and digital media in the capacity of a News Editor, producer, op-ed writer, proficiency in multimedia content production. My expertise encompasses news reporting, engaging writing and excellent editing, interviewing skills, research techniques, news editing, TV presentation, and scriptwriting. My Proficiency in creating compelling multimedia content including video production, photography, video/ audio editing skills and Knowledge of video editing software, such as Adobe Premiere Pro or Final Cut Pro, and photo editing tools like Adobe Photoshop differentiate me from ordinary and traditional journalists.
Currently, I am working with PtvWorld News, Islamabad as a senior reporter (foreign ministry beat) / producer and the In-Charge of Afghan desk. Besides, I have a strong background and professional experience of working with Pashto medium broadcast, print and digital media organizations including Avt Khyber, Voice of America, Hum Pashto1, PTV Bolan and Shamshad TV, while my op-ed articles in Pashto have appeared in Mashal Radio, Navi Zhowand, VoA Deewa, Taand.com in Afghanistan and Pakistan. Above all my command on Afghan and Pakistan histories and politics, war on terror from Taliban to Taliban can provide valuable insight for BBCs targeted audiences if selected for the role. Earlier, I worked with Dawn News, Balochistan Times, the Independent News, 6Am news and other media organizations. My work covering various topics including terrorism, religious extremism, politics, history, and culture have widely been and appreciated in Pakistan and Afghanistan. I have produced dozens of reports and documentaries that cover political and cultural beats, stories related to bomb blasts, targeted killings, and suicidal attacks and other terrorism related events in Afghanistan, Ex Fata and Baluchistan.
As I have been working with various media organization for the last 14 years in Pakistan, I have been covering the news from Pakistan and have had covered the news from across the region especially the political developments in Afghanistan after the 9/11 till date I have solid understanding of current affairs both globally and regionally. I have been covering the Afghanistan and Pakistan affairs, terrorism, cultural events, political differences and events across the Durand line so, keeping up with the latest news, trends, and developments in the region especially Afghanistan and Pakistan enable me to provide accurate and relevant information to BBCs audience.
I am also multilingual, and can proficiently speak, read, and write English, Pashto, and Urdu languages. However, my Dari and Balochi languages skills are pretty good. My first language is Pashto, and I have worked in a variety of Pashto media roles. I also speak English well, and I have held important positions with English newspapers. I have over 10 years of experience in live broadcasting, including live breaking news. My articles about issues relating to Afghanistan, Pakistan, and their implications for the region have featured in various local and international media. I am well-versed in Afghan and Pakistani events, as well as their significance and applicability on a regional and global scale. My personal library has a sizable number of books on Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Pakhtunkhwa.
My international exposure of studying and working in the USA is another asset for this role as i hold an M.Phil degree in Media and Communication Studies, as well as a Master's degree in Mass Communication Studies. In addition, I have completed another Master's degree in Computer Science. Besides, I am a CCI Scholar (United States) and have completed a multimedia journalism course in the United States in 2013-14. Furthermore, I hold dual Bachelor's degrees in Political Science and economics. In addition to my formal education I have also earned certificates in film production, script writing, social media, and photography. I have gained the experience of international exposure of both studying, living and working in the United States.
My holistic research skills enables me to gather accurate and reliable information, I know how to fact-check sources, verify information, and conduct thorough investigations. Furthermore, I possess strong leadership and management skills, having successfully led cross-functional teams and collaborated with diverse stakeholders. I have been studying books especially about Afghan history, society, culture and politics. I am confident that my experience and passion for journalism makes me an ideal fit for this role. I have Strong computer skills including MS Word, MS Excel, and MS Power Point and have vast experience of working on communication software/ applications video including adobe premiere, final cut pro, Coral Draw, Adobe Photoshop and other software/ applications for photo editing and graphics. I am also goo at video editing/production, photography with DSLR cameras. I am fluent in English, Urdu, and Pashto while Balochi, Punjabi and Persian languages are pretty good.
